oh my Anubis, I prob shouldn't even reply. I see one of the same names that I dread... but I homeschooled for three yrs,so I wanted to chime in.
Now each state has there own rules and you def need to check out yours. you also should check out any local homeschool spport groups. even those can be nuts depending on the type you join and if its a good fit for you/your family. anyway.. there are a ton of paid for curriculums, or you can make your own.
the main thing,and the hardest, is working with a kid that isn't self-motivated...like my 14yr old. dep. on what grade your kid is and the school system, you can even have them go to pub school for part of the day. they call it duel-enrollment.
as long as you have other outlets...mommy groups, 4H, scouts, activities...I wouldnt worry about socialization..it'll happen.
