Re: Justin started Kindy 3 weeks ago....
Awww - thanks!! He does enjoy school, although he has a bit of a "talking" problem that we're having to work on. His teacher is great, though, and I hope after another few weeks he will settle down, but there's no telling! He does like to be the class clown.... (sigh...) - but he is a fun kid.
As for earning money for his bike, here's a "cut-n-paste" from a current e-mail on my other board where I was discussing it...(the question asked was about allowance...)
Justin doesn't get an allowance just yet, but he can earn "money" by doing chores. For example, he really wanted a new bike (which was $70). We knew he had outgrown his other one, so we made a deal. I told him we would pay for half of it, but that he would have to earn 35 "bike bucks" for his half. I gave him a list of chores with pictures that he posted up on his door and each chore was worth one "bike buck." (I made actual slips of paper on the computer with a picture of a bike and the words "bike buck" on them). Each time he did a chore off of that list WITHOUT us asking him to, he earned a bike buck. Took him about 3 1/2 weeks, but he finally earned his bike!! He actually gave the lady at WalMart the 35 bike bucks too - (I whispered to her just to take them and throw them out after we left - she was confused at first but caught on...) His list of chores went something like this:
- make bed
- clear the dinner table (everyone's dishes)
- choose a healthy dessert
- read a book to Mommy or Daddy
- wipe down the sink/counter after brushing teeth
- feed the dog
- help Mommy sort laundry
.... and a few more to choose from that I can't remember. Worked like a charm!!
