Re: Anja (BlessedMomof3)
I have been on meds now for almost 2 weeks to keep the contractions at Bay, here is our plan of action:
Due to the fact that Sophie is still breech at this time, I have been doing a lot of pondering and searching within me what I can and want to do. It came down to, I am absolutely terrified of having a c-section. Not because of the actual surgery part. This lays much deeper.
Long story short. The thought of being cut open while awake causes me to have a panic attack that lies deep in the root of my being. I had a Traumatic event happen when I was 9 years old. And I had 11 years of nightmares based on the event. The possibility of the c-section brought all that stuff back to the surface.
Yesterday I had the chance to talk to my OB about it all.
Baby sounded good, still breech, HB in the mid 140's. a total of 33 lbs gained. BP was down (thank goodness) measuring 36 weeks. Just shy of 3 cm dialated. (Last time I hit 4 cm's I delivered within 3 hours)
So after having a long talk with the OB, here is our game plan. I am going to get scheduled (I don't have the actual confirmation yet) for a c-section on Tuesday October 3rd, I will be 36 weeks 2 days. However, before that we will work everything we can to avoid it.
I will be coming in early that morning, he will do an Amniocentisis, we will get the results of the lung maturity within the hour. If it comes back unfavorable, the number will tell us how much longer about she needs. So we will stop everything right then.
If it comes back favorable he will attempt to turn her externally. If that works, I will be closely monitored and he will induce me. If the turning is not successful at that time, he will do the c-section then.
We are preparing for worst case, but hoping for the best. At least all of this will be in a controlled setting and not an emergency situation where I hit 4 cm's and find myself in full blown labor.
He cannot do the turning part while I am in labor. I also asked if they had frank breech deliveries before and was told that only once in 18 years did it happen.
Sorry this turned so long! I am still working with her to turn, but this is our plan if she doesn't.
We will keep everyone updated!
Anja
