Thumbs up More justice for Marcus Fiesel

Amy Baker in Clermont County Jail, faces extradition to Kentucky for her role in disposing of Marcus' remains

The live-in girlfriend of convicted child killers Liz and David Carroll Jr. is now behind bars, according to the Maysville Police Department.

Amy Baker, 25, confessed to helping David Carroll dispose of the remains of the Carrolls' 3-year-old foster child Marcus Fiesel after they found the Middletown boy dead in his playpen last August.

Maysville police on Friday afternoon charged Baker and David Carroll with tampering with evidence for their roles in throwing Marcus' ashes off a bridge over the Ohio River Aug. 7, 2006.

If convicted, Baker could spend up to five years in prison. She could be indicted by April 27, Kentucky law enforcement officials said.

The criminal complaint was filed Friday by Mason County Attorney John F. Estill and Kathryn B. Hendrickson, Commonwealth Attorney for the 19th Judicial District, according to a Maysville Police Department news release.

Marcus was left in playpen in a closet of the Carrolls' Union Twp. home Aug. 4 while the Carrolls and Baker attended a family reunion out of town.

When they returned two days later to find the developmentally disabled boy dead, David Carroll and Baker took the body to a lone chimney in a fallen-down home in a secluded spot in Brown County. There David Carroll doused the body with gasoline and burned the remains repeatedly.

He and Baker then drove to the William Harsha Bridge in Mason County, Ky., and threw what wouldn't burn into the Ohio River.

The 25-year-old Amelia woman was the prosecution's key witness against the Carrolls. In exchange for her testimony during the Liz Carroll trial in February, Baker was given immunity to criminal charges by Hamilton and Clermont county prosecutors.

That immunity, however, didn't extend across state lines.

Following her testimony, during which she admitted to helping David Carroll dispose of the boy's body, residents across southwest Ohio and Northern Kentucky clamored for police to charge her with a crime.

With an arrest warrant in place, Clermont County Sheriff's deputies arrested Baker on Friday and took her to the Clermont County Jail, where she awaits extradition to Kentucky. Her bond has been set at $50,000.

No bond was set for Carroll because of his incarceration, Maysville authorities said.

If convicted, David Carroll's 16-year to life prison term could be extended by five years.

Liz Carroll is serving a 54-year life prison term at the Ohio Reformatory for Women in Marysville
