For quite a few years after birth, the foreskin is fused to the head of the penis, so its biologically one part. You simply clean it like a finger (wipe the outside only). It is maintenance free! A child will become retractible anywhere from age 3-puberty, and the only person to ever pull back that foreskin should be the child himself (since they won't pull back to the point of hurting themslves). Once they show they are retractible (and if its before puberty) then they should be taught to retract, rinse the area with warm water and than cover it again. After puberty, they can add a little VERY MILD soap to their routine. Their parts are as self cleansing as our parts are (since we don't take harsh soaps and scrub our insides out

)
Just touching on the fact that a lot of problems with the intact penis here in US are due to parents pulling the foreskin back prematurely (creating little tears that are openings to infection) and overzealous cleaning (which kills the normalflora-healthy bacteria, and let an infection set in).
Caring for an intact little boy is MUCH easier than caring for girls and all their folds/crevices!!
And I just have to say it takes some really intelligent parents to re-evaulate their stance on something like this with current research vs. just following the trend of what they have done before (a lot of people feel like that is their only choice). Your dh probably sent you the video of an actual circumcision, which has been making its way around Utube. My husband was just as appalled when he saw the video...its incredibly hard to watch, no matter what sex you are.
If you have ANY more questions, ask away!!!!!
