    4 to 6 - under 6

    Did you know that this is the recommendation for the amount of juice a child our kids age should have? They are only supposed to have 4 to 6 ounces of juice per DAY under the age of 6.


    Is your toddler under or over that amount? If they are a juicer what kind(s) do they like and how often do they drink it?


    I found this out because we had to take Sarah in for a pediatric dentist appt. She is going to have to have her front two teeth fixed. Apparently she has bad enamal on her front two teeth but the other teeth are ok. The dentist thinks that between her juice addiction and the horrible reflux she had the first year of her life, that it is eroding her teeth. She is going to have a sedation treatment done and they will have to fix two bad spots. They will be cleaned, filled, and sealed. It should last her until her baby teeth fall out. We are scheduled to do this in December, but I am on a waiting list for two days in October (when I happen to be off from school).

    I was wondering if anyone else has a juice addict on their hands?

    Kalem loves juice but he only really gets about 4-6 oz because we dilute 1part juice 3 parts water. He's always had it this way so he doesn't know any better yet :-)

    Loic will be 4 and he hates juice, he only drinks milk and water. He's never been a juice drinker from the beginning.

    Emily will drink juice but it is diluted about 4-1. Once in a blue moon will she get a taste of the straight stuff. She is a milk addict! I like it that way.

    Some days no juice, other days 9 oz. dilluted a bit...also makes it go further, hehe. They drink lots of ice water here.

    Darren is the same way. He won't even drink soda, which is great. If it's not milk or water, it's nothing.

    Once we noticed her bad tooth, we switched to light juice, which is more than 50% less in sugar and we still dilute that in half. Now we are actually measuing out her four to six ounces and that gets split between breakfast and dinner. We are pushing more milk and most of the time she will drink it but occasionally she needs her fix or we get a big ol'

    Another thing, and I can't believe it worked, is that when she asks for juice I tell her "Dr. Ken said that two much juice will make Sarah's pretty teeth look yucky" and she says "Ok" and walks off.

    Logan has more than 4-6 ozs but it's 40% juice, 60% water he has 1-2 cups so 9-12 ozs depending on the day. He also has 16-24 ozs of milk a day though so I don't want to overdo the milk and he will only drink water if he's REALLY thirsty and I'd rather he not get to the extreme thirst.

    Ash doesn't drink very much juice. And when she does I dilute the heck out of it so I would say she only gets 1-2 oz the days she gets it. Most days is just water and milk.

    I give them juice a couple times a week. I'd say Vi gets 3-4 oz...I put it in the smallest sippy cup we have so it looks like a lot. lol

    ERin is allergic to all juice it gives her severe diarrhea with the smallest amount of juice so she is a milk drinker,

    Hunter does get anything but pediasure but he has been constipated lately so we are going to start giving him juice through his feeding tube to see if it helps any. probably still end up being 4-6 ounces per day though.

    Nyla prefers water and milk over juice. But drinks a couple glasses of watered down juice a day.
