I'm not a Ohio mommy, but my mom always put on our school records when we were in school 'for religious reasons' & was never asked anything else.

For school, Ohio offers all 3 exemptions. But it seems for daycare you can only use religious or medical. All you have to do for religious is submit a letter that states why your religious views conflict with vaccination.

If you want Bree, I can post the letter that I wrote to Chris' school to exempt him based on religious reasons.

§ 5101:2-12-37 Children's medical and enrollment records for licensed child care centers.


(B) Centers shall maintain enrollment records which include health records, emergency transportation information, and parent or guardian roster permissions for all children attending the center on the JFS 01234 "Child Enrollment and Health Information" (rev. 09/2006).

(1) The center shall secure and have on file all children's enrollment records no later than the first day of attendance. All records shall be immediately accessible to the administrator or designee, and shall be reviewed and updated annually.
(2) Immunizations may be waived by the administrator for religious reasons upon submission of the parent or guardian's written request for exemption or for medical reasons upon submission of a physician's or certified nurse practitioner's written request for exemption. These statements shall be on file at the center.
(3) The center shall set its own policy regarding the admittance of children whose parents or guardians refuse to grant consent for transportation for emergency treatment.

What is "Philosophical exemption"?

That is what I will file, basically it means I don't believe in the safety of Vax's and won't do them. Aimee may be able to explain it better.

As far as the religious exp, they cannot ask you what religion you are I'm pretty sure, but some states make you get a Clergy to sign off on it. Not sure if Ohio is one or not though. My only one in school is fully vaxed as of now but my youngest ones have no vax's and won't be having any (besides Gabby and her 2 month ones that she reacted to).

From what I understand Ohio only can ask you to submit a written statement from the parent and that has to be good enough. As for philosophical, you can just say it contradicts your personal beliefs and that's about it.

This was the letter I submitted to Chris' school. Feel free to c&p and edit the necessary bits.

I am submitting this written statement to exempt my child, Christian Lastname, from immunizations based on my religious beliefs.

Being a person of Christian faith, it is against our sincerely held religious convictions to accept the injection of any foreign substances into our bodies. The practice of vaccination is contrary to our conscientiously held religious beliefs and practices, and violates the free exercise of our religious principles.

We accept God's warning not to mix the blood of man with the blood of animals. Vaccines are produced in animal tissues, and some vaccines are produced in aborted fetal tissue. Vaccines are made with toxic chemicals that are injected into the bloodstream by vaccination. All vaccines are made with foreign proteins (viruses and bacteria), and some vaccines are made with genetically engineered viral and bacterial materials.

We believe that man is made in God's image and the injection of toxic chemicals and foreign proteins into the bloodstream is a violation of God's directive to keep the body/temple holy and free from impurities.

When Christian was a baby I was uinformed and unaware that vaccinations were contrary to our beliefs. Once I became aware of this, we stopped vaccinating him. Therefore, I request that you accommodate our religious beliefs and practices by exempting my child, Christian Lastname, from any further vaccinations. If any further action is needed on my part, please don’t hesitate to contact me at (number). Thank you for your time.

That is great that you can do Philosophical! I wish that we had that option. We have to do religious exemption which isn't a big deal but a little more difficult than Philosophical.

This is our affidavit that we use in case it helps anyone else.

This includes, but is not limited to, any and all, Vaccinations, Shots, Tests for Diseases, Oral Vaccines, Epidermal Patches and in any other way that Live or Killed Bacterium, Viruses, Pathogens, Germs, or any other Microorganisms, may be introduced into or upon my body or any of my children’s bodies.

The Hepatitis-A vaccine containing MRC-5 is obtained from human babies that were electively aborted. WI-38 was created from the tissue of an aborted fetus and is used for the rubella portion of the MMR-II vaccine. RA 273 was created from the tissue of an aborted fetus, and is used for MMR-II vaccine. A conflict arises because (my/our) religious convictions are predicated on the belief that all life is sacred. God's commandment "Thou Shall Not Kill" applies to the practice of abortion. The acceptance of these vaccines promotes abortion and violates the Sixth Commandment of "Thou Shall Not Kill". The Hepatitis-B vaccine supposedly protects against a disease that is only transmitted through multiple sexual partners or street IV drug users and therefore usurps (my/our) parental authority to condemn such activity in (my/our) child. The acceptance of this vaccine promotes sexual promiscuity and immoral behavior in direct contradiction to the teachings of (my/our) faith.
