New car and carseat question
Hey Kasey
So with the new baby on the way we want to trade in the pickup (cant fit 2 carseats in a truck eventhough when we bought it in 2000 the guy said that a carseat could be put in the jumpseat:doh23
Anyway we are looking at the honda pilot. I see that it does have the latch over the seat and I will look to see if it has the lower latch as well, but Im guessing it does. Ok so the question, where should the seats be positioned? We got Isaiah in his Graco nautilus and the baby will start in the graco infant seat. The Pilot has 2 rows in the back although I dont believe the middle seat has a shoulder strap. We are going to go look at them next week hopefully and we will take along both carseats and put them in the back and see how they sit before we make a final decision on a car.
Thanks!
Stacey

Re: New car and carseat question
My honest opinion is put the seats behind the passenger and drivers side in the forward most back seat. The 3rd seat should only be used if you have to. I know the middle seat is recommended, but the Nautilus has a wide base and I'm thinking it would be more stable to have the seats farther apart than on top of each other.

Re: New car and carseat question
If you decide you want to use the middle seat I suggest putting the forward facing seat there. The lap belt only issue won't matter with a carseat, only once you use a booster. (Which hopefully won't be for a long long time.

Re: New car and carseat question
The middle seat I believe doesnt have a latch on the back of the seat. I may be wrong on that though. Thanks for the advice though! We thought we'd go look today but Ben is really sick (cold) and we wanted to get a sitter for Isaiah too. so probably next week or something we will go looking.

Re: New car and carseat question
So Kasey, we did purchase the pilot as you saw in my other thread. Now my question is with Isaiah being one and only right now where should we put him in the back seat (well middle row)? We started him in the middle and I have to say it was kinda hard to get him in and out so we moved him behind the drivers seat. Is that ok? What about those side airbags? its got them. I know in the Ranger when he was sitting in the front seat we just turned the airbag off, but dont think I can do that with this car.
It seems like quite a child designed car, teather and lower anchors for 3 seats in the middle row and 1 in the back row with both and then the other 2 backrow seats have just the teather. We were actually able to put the infant seat in the middle and Isaiahs seat to the side too, not that we would leave them this way but we thought it would be easier when picking up the grandparents from the airport that way
Thanks for your advice Kasey
I always know where to turn when it comes to these things!

Re: New car and carseat question
Isaiah on the side is no problem. Side airbags operate differently than front airbags. I'm one that honestly believes that the safest place is where you get the best fit in the car. (Besides the front obviously....LOL.) I had Timber in the middle and Sawyer on the drivers side when we owned the car, now in the van they're in the second row (just two seats available.)
