OT-Dr's bills-ugh
I swear, if we didn't have insurance, we would totally have to file bankruptcy for this delivery!!
$9000 for prenatal visits $3500 for the dr to catch Cooper $7500 for two nights in the hospital (for a friggin vaginal birth!!) $1300 for an epidural that didn't even work How the hell does someone afford that without insurance? That is absolutely ridiculous!! I'm so glad nothing was wrong with Coop and he had to be in the NICU. Good thing is we've almost met our out of pocket expenses for this year, so if something else happens insurance will cover it 100%. |

Re: OT-Dr's bills-ugh
Tell me about it!!!! Laiken is one expensive baby medically speaking. LOL. Insurance has paid almost $30,000 for her already. She is not even 3 months old! LOL

Re: OT-Dr's bills-ugh
It's crazy. Our bill was over $8000 for Ashlyn. Ummm, hello you gave her a bath and checked her every 4 hours, she was in the room with me. It did include a NICU charge because they had her there for a night. The actually NICU was like over $4000 a day x 10 days. I don't even want to imagine what her surgery cost or the CVICU.

Re: OT-Dr's bills-ugh
Gemma's bills are nothing compared to Tony's lol. I'm glad I only stayed one day in the hospital cause that was a lot of money. I almost have the epidural that failed bill paid off. DH is dumb and didn't put her on the insurance like he said he did so I have two pedi appointments I'm still paying for out of pocket for.

Re: OT-Dr's bills-ugh
I wish I could have only stayed one night, but the doctor made me go in at nine the night before he was born to start being induced. They couldn't understand why I didn't want to stay 48 hours after he was born-it's too damn expensive, plus, at my house I could relax and sleep without someone coming in all the dang time. Hell, the bed was a delivery bed, so it was SO uncomfortable. I barely slept the whole time I was there, because I was in such terrible pain from the bed being so bad.
I just think it is absolutely RIDICULOUS that they can charge those prices! I know insurance knocks down what they can charge, and then we pay our 20% based on that, but still! For an uncomplicated delivery and a healthy, breastfed, roomed-in baby, it should NOT be that expensive! |

Re: OT-Dr's bills-ugh
I think they would have let me leave earlier but I wanted to make sure nursing was going well before we left. Probably depends on the hospital, mine was really granola lol. They charge for the littlest things when Tony has been hospitalized=the craziest is they charge me to give him his insulins even though I brought them in and they wouldn't let me give him his shots.

Re: OT-Dr's bills-ugh
I have my dr bills but I'm afraid to look at them. I know I have to but for the life of me, I am afraid too.

Re: OT-Dr's bills-ugh
I paid $2700 OOP for my d&c. Over $300 each for the dr, the anesthesiologist, and the u/s to confirm no hb. I paid a $500 deposit to the deposit and then still had to pay like $1100 more. And I was in the hospital for like 4 hours!!
