I want to with my next baby.
My friend used to buy frozen veggies on sale. She'd add a little bit of water and blend it. THen put it in ice cube trays. When she wanted it she'd take them out and warm them up.
I also made my own food for Isaiah, although I was told with carrots to buy them because of something in the dirt can get into the carrots and can be bad for the baby. not sure what it was at this point, but we purchased the baby food carrots then instead until he got older. Im guessing my dr will say the same thing this go around too.
It was So much less expensive to make the food myself instead... so I will be doing it again in a few short months!

Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and dine with him, and he with Me.

I did it with Josh for as long as he would eat baby food LOL. I now have a freezer full of sweet potatoes that he won't eat anymore!
You can check out Healthy Homemade Baby Food Recipes, Make your baby homemade baby food with our easy baby food recipes, solid food tips, baby nutrition & more! I used it a bit, but I pretty much stuck to the basics. I even found canned fruit that was canned in water instead of juice or syrup and used that. I'm pretty lazy, LOL, but he did like it at first.

I did, at the very beginning I did the basics, sweet potatoes, peas, carrots, etc. Bananas and avocados were the easiest. Just add some breastmilk/formula mush or blend until smooth and their you go. At around 8 months I just used a baby food processor and put whatever we were having for dinner in there and fed them that. It was great, no extra work, they started eating our "typical food". I truly attribute it to our kids not being picky eaters. They will all eat about anything.
I made all of greyson's food. Started out with the basics and just blended some water in with the cooked food. I did buy the rubbermaid 2oz containers to freeze his extra food in. I tried the ice cube tray and it just didn't work for us. I mostly stuck with fresh or frozen foods if I couldn't find fresh. Once he was out of the pureed stage I tried some of the canned foods and he didn't like the taste. After that i just blended up some of whatever we were eating for him until he wanted chunkier stuff.
I made my own food w/ Evan. I plan to do the same w/ Ben once he's ready. I tried him on cereal 3x in the past few days. I don't think he's ready yet.
I started out w/ baked sweet potato, just mashed & add a sprinkle of cinnamon & thinned out w/ water. Avocado is a wonderful first food & easy to fix. I mash it & add breastmilk to it. Once he had trialed bananas, I would add bananas to it for better flavor. Once he got about 8-9 months old, he was eating small amounts of what we were eating blitzed in a food processor.

I must admit that with Lucy my life has been too crazy to make my own food. I can barely make our food let alone food for her. I have been buying only organic baby food but now, at almost nine months, she is SO over it. So I just mash up whatever we have or if it is really hard I throw it in my mini food processor. She is SO happy eating what we have! She is my little foodie and will eat anything (except spinach! LOL I don't blame her!). I made all my four year olds baby food and he is the pickiest eater on the planet!
I bought the beaba baby food maker from williams sonoma and love it! My son is 22 months, but has tons of feeding difficulties and is only on stage 1-2 purees. This thing has been a godsend! Also the book Top 100 baby purees is the best one I've come across.![]()
I made all of Laiken's until after Christmas. It just got to be too much. I was already only getting to spend around 3 hours with her a night during the week. The last thing I wanted to be doing was preparing baby food in the kitchen. LOL. She now eats a mixture of stage 2 baby foods and a little bit of finger foods.
