i've been bitten by the bug-the gardening bug!

i have gone absolutely nuts this year on so many different small projects. I totally love gardening almost as much as photography...and definetly spend more time doing gardening.

what is your favorite plant or project you have done this year?

We are in a drought, so the only things that are doing well are my roses (oddly), and my potted plants, cause i still water them I hung 2 window boxes from my deck with wave petunias in them and they are doing great.

OH! and i made a small herb garden. I have no idea how to use the herbs, but i have basil, lemon basil, oregano and rosemary, and they are doing GREAT!

Re: i've been bitten by the bug-the gardening bug!

I too love my gardening I have some rosemarry planted, well I planted it 2 yrs ago, and its doing great. I love fresh rosemarry in my food. Then this year my hubby and I had taken a garden that was ~1175 square feet and shrunk it down to ~500 square feet and then put raised beds in that and barked the rest of the walking areas. The rest of the yard is seeded for grass. We are so excited about this though because finally I have a garden I can handle! I have 6 tomato plants, 3 sweet 100 cherry, 1 sweet one million (which I heard was awesome) cherry and 2 early cascades. Then I also have some Chives which I have had forever and I just keep transplanting them. They dont seem to die really! The lady who use to live here was a master gardener who worked outside all the time (she was retired) so she had along with the over 1000 sf garden, a rock garden which has english pink roses, purple sweet pea bush, lavender and some other things that Im not sure what they are. That we kept and are trying to keep up with the weeding! Living in WA that can be a fight!

Anyway I would love to get this board going again as I do love gardening quite a bit! I may not have all the right answers but hopefully we can all help each other out

Re: i've been bitten by the bug-the gardening bug!

I planted my first garden this year for Bryn and I to tinker in. DH built us a 4x8 raised planter. I planted pumpkins, watermelons, asparagus, and tomatoes. The tomatoes are doing the best because the squirrels took a liking to my pumpkins that were doing awesome before I covered the whole dang garden with a net.
I also have about a 2x10 flower box out in front that I just put a few petunias in. They looked pretty sad but they're coming around.
I don't know a darn thing about gardening but like seeing what you ladies can do!
