I finally got the ok from DH today!!!
I am not sure if anyone remembers me from last year when asking for info on homeschooling my oldest... but it only took a year for my hubby to see things my way with both kids and the issues we have been having with the public schools here!!!
BUT.... I finally must have badgered him enough because when I asked again today he said yes!!! WOOOHOOO so I will be pulling James ( I pulled Logan out of PreK this Monday and he is doing great) out come December for the spring semester I am sooo excited, and scared!! How did you ladies get started? were you nervous or were you sure it was the right thing to do, in my heart I know it is, but I still worry if I am ready for this, ya know? of course then I have to go pick my kids up from school for something trivial, or they get sent home with work that is insulting to my kids intelligence and I remember why I have been begging DH for so long to let me do this. Sorry for the book... I am just wired right now about this lol So long story short, I will prolly ask a ton of questions in the next month or so... so please be patient lol

Re: I finally got the ok from DH today!!!
I homeschool now. My son is 10th grade and th is is our first year to HS. I'm so glad I did too, he was so far behind and I had no idea. The PS just kept passing him on whether or not he knew the stuff taught. It's been hard but I have him almost caught up and its going great
. We use mostly ABeka Curriculum. I do some work with my 3 y o too and she loves it although I don't use Abeka for her yet, just different miscellaneous stuff.

Re: I finally got the ok from DH today!!!
Congratulations! I remember you posting before. I am HSing my oldest dd for our second year. I don't read over here every day, but a few times a week. I'm not sure how old your ds is, but when I was teaching dd kindy, she learned tons just with play/art and the television being turned off. I just take her lead a lot of the time. Also, we read tons and tons of books. Storytime at the library is great too.

Re: I finally got the ok from DH today!!!
Well the decision to homeschool for me was pretty easy since I was homeschooled as a kid. It definitely takes a lot of patience and quick thinking. I'm so happy to hear that your husband has finally agreed to let you try it. Ultimately you know what is best for your kids and you have to always remember that. There are going to be a lot of times where you are going to doubt yourself but you just need to keep plowing through those times.
Here is a really good website that will give you TONS of information and resources on the how, when, what, and whys of homeschooling. A to Z Home's Cool And of course if you have any questions or concerns I'm totally here for you. Even though I was home taught I find that teaching my own son has been a little frustrating at times and he's only 2 and a half. I just know it's gonna get more and more difficult the older he gets but I'm really looking forward to the challenge.

Re: I finally got the ok from DH today!!!
I'm late responding but I just wanted to add that I too know in my heart that it's right to homeschool my daughter(7 years old) but like you I often worry if I'm doing it right. I've spoken to other HSing parents and they all pretty much tell me the same thing, that with time I'll get more sure of myself. It is a huge undertaking but I'm still really happy with my decision to do it. Congratulations on getting your hubby onboard, that was a big issue in my house hold too!
