Inspiration to Homeschool? - Yada, Yada, Yada

What was your inspiration to homeschool? Are you homeschooling for religious reasons or political reasons or other? I'd love to hear your story!

Yes, all of the above!

In no particular order here are my main reasons:
TAKS (State mandadated testing) ruling the classroom
I didn't have these children for someone else to raise 36 hrs or so a week
Wanted a more family atmosphere
Christ centered education
Wanted a better education for them
LOVE being able to determine our own schedule

My oldest also had some attention span issues in the beginning and I knew she wouldn't conform to the group setting very well. Now she's so far ahead she'd be bored!

Hi Stacey, you've definately got a lot of inspiration there! Glad things are going well for you and your oldest.

TAKS is such a huge issue! I definately think the testing has changed the school systems and I feel bad for kids actually.

I also feel bad for the teachers their education style, jobs, raises, etc.. are all hinged on this test.

I wish you well in your homeschooling journey with your son! I think you will find it to be very rewarding!!
