Question for those with Intact lil boys

So Dh sent me this utube video about Circ's. I haven't watched it yet but I guess it was against.

He was asking what my view on circ'ing was. We had DS done when he was born because I "thought" that is what DH wanted done. I guess he said I made the decision but I can SWEAR he said he wanted it done. Whatever...it's over...

BUT if this lil bean is a boy he said it's up to me.....

So I guess my question is...do you have to do anything special when you give him a bath when you clean his penis? Do you have to move the skin or anything??

Just trying to figure out what decision I'm going to make if I have to make that decision.

thx

Re: Question for those with Intact lil boys

You don't have to do anything at all When the skin retracts on it's own you can then clean under the foreskin and teach your boy how to. It's easier than a circ I think because you don't have to worry about adhesions.

Mewsin is an unknown quantity at this point
Re: Question for those with Intact lil boys

Yup, easy to clean. You wash it like you'd wash a finger.

K is almost retractable and we still don't really have to do anything, if he pulls it back in the tub, that's it, if he doesn't we don't worry about it. He have never smelled or been unclean, or had any infections, so very easy.

Re: Question for those with Intact lil boys

For quite a few years after birth, the foreskin is fused to the head of the penis, so its biologically one part. You simply clean it like a finger (wipe the outside only). It is maintenance free! A child will become retractible anywhere from age 3-puberty, and the only person to ever pull back that foreskin should be the child himself (since they won't pull back to the point of hurting themslves). Once they show they are retractible (and if its before puberty) then they should be taught to retract, rinse the area with warm water and than cover it again. After puberty, they can add a little VERY MILD soap to their routine. Their parts are as self cleansing as our parts are (since we don't take harsh soaps and scrub our insides out )

Just touching on the fact that a lot of problems with the intact penis here in US are due to parents pulling the foreskin back prematurely (creating little tears that are openings to infection) and overzealous cleaning (which kills the normalflora-healthy bacteria, and let an infection set in).

Caring for an intact little boy is MUCH easier than caring for girls and all their folds/crevices!!

And I just have to say it takes some really intelligent parents to re-evaulate their stance on something like this with current research vs. just following the trend of what they have done before (a lot of people feel like that is their only choice). Your dh probably sent you the video of an actual circumcision, which has been making its way around Utube. My husband was just as appalled when he saw the video...its incredibly hard to watch, no matter what sex you are.

If you have ANY more questions, ask away!!!!!

Re: Question for those with Intact lil boys

Ewan's is fully retractable already and i still never pull it back....he will sometimes do it in the tub...if not it's no big deal.

Onr thing though Camille...make sure his doc never pulls it back!!!! Many docs are even unaware of this.

Re: Question for those with Intact lil boys

Thanks guys!!

I think the video is supposed to be against but a "funny" video. Lots of cussing and "penis" jokes and at the end this adult male had his foreskin "put" back on?? I guess there is a way to stretch whatever skin is left and to make the foreskin come back.??

If you want the link lmk. I never watched it. I don't like cussing!!

Was that the Penn and Teller video? I think that was the one with the old guy showing how he stretched the skin back out to make it look intact.

Yeah Penn and Teller is VERY crude (but my dh loved it.) Its definately geared more towards guys, while still being very informative!
