Lunch/Dinner Ideas For Cooper...
I'm making a grocery list for today and I'm stumped as to what to buy other than the norm for him. I feel like we're in such a rut and I want to try new things that I think he'll like. So what are your little ones eating?

Re: Lunch/Dinner Ideas For Cooper...
I am really no help because since my DH is Asian, we pretty much eat a meat, rice and veggies every meal, just different ones. LOL! Maiyah will throw a chicken nugget on the floor any day for some meat and rice.

Re: Lunch/Dinner Ideas For Cooper...
don't know if this is one of your norms, but gabe will eat an entire avocado. he loves them. i also do a simple chicken/egg noodle cassarole that he loves with low sodium cream of mushroom soup. i can give you that recipe if you want. it's easy.
gabe's favorite lunch ever is grilled cheese and grapes or melon. easy!

Re: Lunch/Dinner Ideas For Cooper...
For lunch Aron loves turkey hot dogs cute up and mixed with rice and veggies...he also eats raviolis. I also bought a thing of meatballs from Costco that you can microwave easily, I heat a couple of those up for him and give him diced potatoes with it. Those are the two main things he has for lunch, or I will give him leftovers from dinner the night before. When he is not very hungry he just has a piece of toast, I cut it up into "sticks" for him and some fruit, usually a banana. For dinner he eats what we are eating.

Re: Lunch/Dinner Ideas For Cooper...
I'm in the same boat and I feel bad because he's been getting a lot of Lil Entrees and other processed foods. And I can tell he's getting sick of the same old stuff because he's not eating as good. I also have the problem that DH doesn't like to eat dinner until 8 but DS goes to bed at 7:30 so we never eat together as a family and I end up cooking twice.
How do you ladies who work late or have DH/SOs who work late handle meal time. Sorry if I'm hijacking a little... ~Cara |

Re: Lunch/Dinner Ideas For Cooper...
Cheese quesadillas on whole wheat or multigrain tortillas.
She also loves the turkey, cheese & crackers lunchables. Those are also great for throwing in the diaper bag when out and about. |

Re: Lunch/Dinner Ideas For Cooper...
Here's some things we do...
Mac and cheese. Sometimes KRAFT, or sometimes I get the organic whole wheat noodles and some cheese sauce and do it that way. Grilled ham and cheese/Turkey and cheese. it's the only way I can get him to eat meat lately. Pierogies Fish Sticks Scrambled egg, or a cheese omlette Any fresh fruit or even canned if I am low on time Veggies (peas are easy) couscous (I stole that idea from Lori) english muffin pizzas |

Re: Lunch/Dinner Ideas For Cooper...
At Costco they have Grilled Chicken Strips that you can microwave, and they are SUPER moist. I add them to pasta or mexican easily and he loves them plain. They are our default when we are eating a meal w/ gluten in it.

Re: Lunch/Dinner Ideas For Cooper...
Cara: we eat late too and I have to cook twice. It's a major pain! But Isaiah has so many allergies that he often can't eat what we are having anyways.
Isaiah lunch items: Turkey or ham lunch meat (pretty high quality, the stinker usually won't eat actual turkey cutlets, chicken etc, must the extra salt content?) Frozen peas or canned (no salt) green beans plain mini-wheats or low-sodium triskets or whole grain pasta fruit soy cheeze (ick!)

Amy's Pizza rolls! 25 sec. in the micowave. Kate will eat three of them. Also Kate like smart dog, chix nuggets, meatballs, corn and peas...that is about all she eats right now.

Re: Lunch/Dinner Ideas For Cooper...
We love avocado too! Hummus spread on toast or mini pita bread. Loves fish of any sort. Microwaved baby carrots cut into strips. Really liking soups now, especially with rice or noodles. Oatmeal. Lots of leftovers--she eats pretty much whatever we're eating. Anything with noodles.

Re: Lunch/Dinner Ideas For Cooper...
Oh great thread idea! We have been in a huge slump lately and I can barely get him to eat anything. Heck I'd be bored with his menu also but I just can't seem to come up with new ideas. I'm going to try a lot of these suggestions now though.

Re: Lunch/Dinner Ideas For Cooper...
Cheese quesadilla (loves to share from Taco Johns with Mommy
)Cheese pizza Kraft American cheese slice Chicken nugget (usually Tyson pop in the microwave) Black beans with taco seasoning and salsa Pinto Beans with taco seasoning and salsa Chili (no meat though - just the kidney beans, pinto beans, onions and peppers and seasonings) Spanish rice (won't eat plain rice though) Apple (not cut up - just started with a bite) Mandarin oranges (canned) Pears Fruit cocktail Peaches (canned) Banana (whole - won't eat it cut up) Grapes (I still quarter them!) Carrots Peas (sometimes will eat, sometimes will throw to the dog) Corn Mac & Cheese Bagel with cream cheese Cereal (honeycombs, lucky charms, fruit loops, cheerios, cookie crisp, etc - - you name it she eats it) Yougart (strawberry and peach are her favorites - we eat Yoplait and Yoplait light) Really she gets whatever we are eating - though occasionly she'll have something different - and that is usually at lunch time. The only meat she will eat is chicken nugget (and an occasional fish stick if a baby sitter is over and I leave a frozen kids dinner for her). I tried giving her a hot dog at the mall the other day and she looked at me like I was absolutely nuts for putting it in front of her. Oh well. Erin Jennah 7/4/05 Jack 12/10/06 |

Re: Lunch/Dinner Ideas For Cooper...
Thanks everyone! He eats like a moose and is gaining still it's just always fruits, yogurts, crackers, mac n cheese, sandwhiches, oatmeal, cereal, anything for breakfast item, noodles, mashed potatoes, etc. and he LOVES milk! So at the grocery store yesterday I bought a few different veggies, whole wheat tortillas, shredded cheese, chicken nuggets, raviolis, sweet potatoes, and a few others. So now if I could just start cooking more and stop ordering take out he can actually eat what we're eating, lol!
