    Boy names?

We need help picking out a name for our baby boy who will arrive in February.

Please comment on the names in the poll. What is your favorite? Least favorite? Why do you like/dislike a name.

You will not hurt our feelings--we want complete honesty.

    Thanks in advance!

I love the name Samuel, it was one of our choices. I think they are all rally cute choices. I also really like Noah and Isaiah. Jacob may be the number one name, many years it is.

I voted for Sam. If we ever have another boy, that will probably be his name. I actually like all the names you picked (that's no help I know ) but Sam is definately my favorite!

    Re: Boy names?

I picked Noah, it's classic yet not too common. I like Sam but not Samuel. I'm not a fan of nicknames so both of my kids have names that you can't shorten, lol. Jacob was #2 for us with ds but MIL starting calling him Jake before he was even here...that name changed real fast, ROFL!!!

I love Isaiah (can you tell?) but also love the name Noah (that was our other option that we had for Isaiah's name). Either way they go well with Hannah

    Good luck!

I voted Jonah. All of those names are wonderful, but the others are more popular or are quickly gaining popularity. I like names that are traditional but still not overused. Jonah is perfect!

    Re: Boy names?

I voted Noah, but they are all very nice names. Well all but Jacob. I absolutely do NOT like that name, LoL. I have worked with kids for 10 years and every Jacob I have worked with has been a terror! I hear that name and get chills. So I would personally steer clear of that name. Good luck. For me choosing a name is so hard!

    Re: Boy names?

I voted for Samuel, but I like all of your names except Jonah & Noah. Jonah just makes me think of that song from Sunday School (the whale did, the whale did, the whale did, the whale did, the whale did swallow Jo-Jo-Jonah ) and I once knew a Noah who was a complete jerk, so I've never liked that name.

I voted for Noah. It is actually a name I suggested for DS but DH didn't really like it. I also love the name Samuel and Jacob (on of our choices too).

    Re: Boy names?

    I voted for Samuel.

Honestly, I hate the name Jonah... (You wanted honest, right? lol)

It sounds nice, but it's got one heck of a stigma attached to it. Maybe this is just in Europe (I'm English), but I remember as a child whenever someone was bad luck (example, we were winning in a game and someone joined us and we started losing) we'd say "You're a Jonah". Tom has a friend called Jonah and it makes me wince whenever I hear it...

Do a google search for "Jonah Bad Luck" and see what you get...

*Hightlighted text from the below quote* His misadventure has given our language the word 'Jonah,' meaning a person who carries a jinx, one who will bring bad luck to any enterprise.

JONAH - "Jonah, one of the most celebrated of the Old Testament prophets, earned his fame just as he did God's disfavor by disobeying the Deity. As punishment, he was thrown overboard during a great storm at sea and wound up, in the words of Ira Gershwin's lyrics for 'Porgy and Bess,' 'in the belly of the whale.' After three days in stygian darkness, he was regurgitated, presumably having learned his lesson. His misadventure has given our language the word 'Jonah,' meaning a person who carries a jinx, one who will bring bad luck to any enterprise. Appropriately enough, the name Jonah in the original Hebrew Yohnah meant 'the moaning one." From the "Morris Dictionary of Word and Phrase Origins" by William and Mary Morris (HarperCollins, New York, 1977, 1988).
Personally, I couldn't saddle a child with that

Well, I love the name Jonah!! I almost named Logan that. Meanings mean nothing to me, if you like a name...you should use it.
    It's all about personal preference.
