D.J. named the dog we are thinkign of getting.. - Yada, Yada, Yada

We want to get D.J. a dog. My parents got him a valentines day card with a dog on it and he carrys it around kissing it.. making me kiss it. I asked him what the doggy on the cards name was.. this is how our covo went

Me: D.J. whats on your card?

D.J.: Doggy mommy

Me: Does your Doggy have a name?

D.J.: Yup Doggy... (picture a DUH mommy face here.)

Me: D.J. would you like a doggy someday??

D.J.: YEA YEA YEA!

Me: Okay.. but our doggy will need a name.. what should we name him?

D.J.: ummm... umm.... DOGGY!!!

So yes.. when we get back from AZ we are going to probably start looking for a dog (a small one that doesnt shed). His or Her name will be Doggy lol.

When we tell him we are going to see his great grandpa he screams DOLLY! My grandpa has a shi tzu and they are too much!

I know you have a beagle.. does she shed a lot???

LOL YEs!!! she sheds a TON! But Beagles are incredible with kids! She would NEVER bite him or anyone. And Noah is always smacking her wtih his toys and all over her- he squeezes her too hard...etc... everything you can imagine a toddler would do, he does it. And she tolerates it all. So, for me the shedding is secondary, even though i hate it! The most important thing is the dog's tempermant and if they will handle a toddler. But I have to vacuum twice a week and I have those sticky rollers- for the sofas to get the hair off a couple times a week. Noah always has one of her hairs stuck to him.

beagles are very willfull, they run away because they follow their nose and they eat everything in site so they can get real fat. they're great dogs but difficult meaning they won't sit in one place all day and chill.. they need to run and play a lot and need lots of attention and get lonely fast. But i'd say they're prolly one of the most child friendly breed.

have you ever seen a Boston Terrier short hair but i dunno about shedding. i just think they're cute

lol.. you got me thinking of a beagl now LOL. My grandpas shi tzu is sooo good with DJ.. he likes to pick her up by her neck and drop her. Then shes right back to lick him and go back for more!! LOL. Oh my that boston terrier is tooo cute! LOL.

Thank you for the info on begals and the terrier... we plan on doing some research first. Our first thing is good with kids, doesnt shed and small. LOL.. i dont know though hearing about how good your dog is with Noah has really got me thinking lol.

AH he will love a dog. Julia loves spooty poo, thats our dog. I asked her to name a fish and she said gadoieursancxucf you know, baby gurgles. I can't imagine Julia not having Spooty around. Spooty is a big dog but is great with kids. If spooty does something naughty Julia will go up to her and say BAD Dog it is so cute. Spooty ate the rest of the birthday cake

because we left it on the counter and Julia came in the kitchen and told her she was a bad dog like 30 times.

awwwwww!! my cousin told me today that when she had my son over night in Dec the only way he'd sleep is if her dog (husky, st. benard mix.. big dog lol) was laying next to him. Thank you ladies for your input.. lol im excited about getting David one.

We have 2 dogs and they are awesome wiht the kids. We have Pugs. (I posted a thread in Fur babies of what the one puts up with but forget to get the url of it before posting.) Lets jut say she had 12 necklaces on and just sat there. THe dogs get hugs adn kisses at nap and bedtime. And, each child has a dog job to do daily. Samantha feeds them! Gaivn takes care of letting them in and out.
