Someone please tell me that baby spiders dont grow up to be big spiders?

Just...lie to me. Please. I know its the natural progression of things....but I really want to think they all just maybe get a bit bigger then...oh I dont know, maybe go back out under the door and live ouside?

We have had a spider problem here this year. Its like all these teeny baby spiders are freaking everywhere! When I first started seeing them they were teeny like the head of a pin. Now I am seeing them all over and they are bigger, still small- but bigger. Like, you can see all the details. Ew. They are all over the baseboards of our apartment, running everywhere. Every time I move something one comes running out. It scares the bejesus out of me. I am a HUGE arachnophobe but it hasnt gotten to me as badly as it could- mostly b/c they are still small. But its getting worse.

What can I do to get rid of them short of paying someone big bucks to come in and spray? And where the F are they coming from? I seriously hate spiders, I told Chris if they keep getting bigger and I keep seeing them we have to move, yeah I am that dumb that I would pack up and leave over some damn spiders, but I'll freakin do it. I'd live in a cardboard box if the guy who sold it to me told me it was 100% spiderproof.

Do they sell spray that kills them or can I use ant spray?

Do you live in an apartment? If so, maintainance should take care of that. If not, I don't think that having someone come to spray is too pricey (but that is in Arizona). If not, I know I've seen over-the-counter stuff you could use too.

Good luck! I hate spiders soooo bad.

Raid House and Garden Bug Killer

That being said, according to the guy I pay (he comes to our house four times a year scheduled and then whenever I see a bug in the house to spray inside and out again... I hate bugs.) spiders are good to have around. But again, I have him here about ten times a year because I hate those creepy crawly things!

OMG Tina! We've got the same thing going on here. I think I'm gonna ask Rick to go buy some bug bombs to get rid of these suckers. I like Stacey's idea of having a scheduled guy come out to spray but I'm sure DH would say that he doesn't want to pay for it since we can do it. Yeah, right...like it actually gets done here

Re: Someone please tell me that baby spiders dont grow up to be big spiders?

You can buy bug bombs at the grocery store or Walmart. Set them off in your house when you're ready to leave. Come home long enough to open door and windows, let it air out, and then go in and vacuum and clean surfaces (counters, floor, etc). We do this twice per year.

lol...i am not Mikel, but those bug bombs work pretty good. We had fleas once and used them..it didn't kill the fleas but we didn't see any other bugs for months. And it was safe, when we came home and aired it out i just wiped down my counters and all that.

Re: Someone please tell me that baby spiders dont grow up to be big spiders?

I bought one of these bug vacuums and they work really well but still it freaks me out getting close enough to suck them up. It sucks them in and then zaps them dead. Of course, I also can't empty it either even though they're dead. That's a boy job in my book http://www.amazon.com/Lentek-BV01-Bu.../dp/B00008YO16

As for the bug bombs, I honestly don't know how much they cost. Rick just goes to Dale Hardware and picks them up. I don't care as long as those things die and I don't have to deal with them anymore. Here's a link to the different "foggers". Not sure which one he uses. http://www.killsbugsdead.com/fogger/

Tina usually little teeny spiders leave before they become big spiders. They need to find their own space and too many together cramps their style.

Re: Someone please tell me that baby spiders dont grow up to be big spiders?

We go to the local feed (animal) store and buy some stuff that you have to mix with water then spray everywhere. It works really good and only costs about $5.

Oh and don't you know that spiders grow different than other things. Instead of getting bigger, they shrink over time. That's my story and I'm sticking to it!

Re: Someone please tell me that baby spiders dont grow up to be big spiders?

Tina, I blame you! My bug guy just left. After my shower this morning I was about to grab my towel and what is sitting on it looking at me? A freakin' huge spider! Do they have tongues? I'm pretty sure that if they do, he was sticking his out at me. All I keep thinking is what if I hadn't noticed it there! Yikes!

Re: Someone please tell me that baby spiders dont grow up to be big spiders?

Tina - The reason there are so many baby spiders is because most of them will die before they reach adulthood and "big spider" status. I would still try a bug bomb if I were you, but I wouldn't be too worried about them ALL turning into big spiders.

Re: Someone please tell me that baby spiders dont grow up to be big spiders?

We have this little guy living in our bathroom. She's our pet.

I absolutely HATE spiders... BUT... there were these five little teeny tiny baby spiders in our bathroom and I vacuumed them up and killed them all... except one.

And I didn't have the heart to kill her, so I left her there. She was about 3mm in size... she's now about 1/4 inch in size, including her legs... and she's been there about 7 months or so.... lol.

She never leaves that one corner. She's got about a 6 square inch part of the bathroom that she inhabits and we leave her alone...

So no... little spiders do not always grow up into big spiders

You're nuts!! I would pee in the front yard in broad daylight before I peed in a bathroom that had a spider in it.
I cannot stand spiders! I suck them up in the dust buster and then quick dump them in the toilet and flush em. I refuse to squish them, that squish sound and feeling uuggghhh *shudder*

The spider is about the size of a dime... INCLUDING legs. Doesn't even warrant being called a spider in my opinion.

We have fucking huge ass roaches..... so a little itty bitty spider is fine with me! I used to be TERRIFIED of spiders... then I found a roach in my jeans.... when I had them on at the time... since then spiders are cake.

Ah man Kerry...now you've got me scared to put on jeans. :sign0082: Sorry, but there is also NO WAY I'd be friends with a spider. uh uh, no way, no how.

We actually are on a plan where a pest plan. This company comes out and sprays once a quarter. It helps with spiders, ants, yellow jackets...all of those creatures that crawl or fly are history!!
