    "Your childs good behavior reflects how much you love them." WTH?!?

    So, we were at one of my favorite stores in Dallas last week and on their door they have "Your childs good behavior reflects how much you love them." I was outraged.

    I love Katie to pieces and would sacrifice my own life for her, but if you were to judge how much I loved her by her behavior that day (the day after a 14 hour day in the airport/airplane) you certainly wouldn't have thought that I loved her. She was horrid in the store. She was crumpling up a cookie and throwing it at people and spitting at them. I was horrified! The store was run by Asians and we just kept getting these nasty stares and they would talk back and forth and I'm sure we were a topic of converstation.

    Katie has NEVER behaved that way before. I took the cookie away and told her she was naughty. We ended up leaving the store early, I was horrified, but also I was outraged at the sign.

    What do you guys think? Have you seen this before?

    I've never seen a sign like that before, but I would imagine that anyone who would put up a sign like that either A) doesn't have kids or B) is blessed with amazingly perfect kids.

    That's probably one of the most ridiculous statements I've ever heard, and I can't imagine most people believe that.

    What jerks! We certainly love Cooper to death and he knows it but sometimes he can be a monster, he's 2! I definitely think along with firm parenting it all depends on your child's temperment (sp?), so some kids are a little more fiery than others.

    I actually had someone say this exact same thing to me a while back in regards to Ashley. I also saw a post about it back on BBC on another birth board and it got really heated. I was shocked to see how many people agree with the statement. As the mother of a child with ADHD and other behavioral issues it pains my heart every time I hear that statement. I beat myself up every day that my DD's hyperactivity and behavior problems may stem from me being a bad parent to her at a young age (I had her when I was 18). Knowing that others may think this too is what makes me have a hard time going out with my family when Ash is having a 'bad med day' (at least 3 times a week).

    What store had the audacity to hang that sign? I have to know so I never give them my business. I love Jack to death but he has his good boy days and his "nudgy" days and that doesn't take away from how much I love him. Wow!

    That's just so dumb. It's really hard to be a parent and to discipline your kid, and it's especially hard when you're in the middle of BJ's and your kid's about to have a meltdown and you just know people are going to stare, that to think on top of that people are going to watch and judge how much you love your kid?!?!? Or assume that because of the behavior you must not really love your child?!?! That's just absolutely crazy and really, really depressing.

    my son was pretty well behaved until last week. the aliens came and implanted him with the "selfish, no sharing, my way is the ONLY way, screaming fits, playing with food at the dinner table" chip and it's been a rough time since. LOL!

    Hmmm... I guess I love Corinne then, and I must not like Garrett very much.

    I am hoping that it is a phrase that was lost in translation? I know my grandfather (he is a cranky old Chinese man with a heart of gold) believes discipline is a form of love and that by teaching our children what is right and wrong, and disciplining them when they are wrong, we are showing that we love them. Maybe the sign is alluding to that? That if we help our children learn good behavior, and help guide them when they're not having their best days, we are showing how much we love them.

    That being said, I would not visit that store. If a place isn't kid friendly, they don't need my business!

    My Texas mommies were right it was Sam Moon. I loved that store up until last week. I'm not sure if I'll go back there again or not.

    I can only hope that the meaning of the phrase was lost in translation but from the looks I got from the people running the store I don't think so!

    Sam moon is not a family friendly store. The one near my sis has a NO STROLLERS policy...whatever - good thing I own a baby bjorn - like I could lug around a 20 + pounder baby and try to contain a wild child toddler and search through all the bins of purses and jewlery...Dang - Jennah would be a nightmare in that store - she'd want to touch every single necklace, earring, purse, bag,...omg...oh - and Jack has started grabing at everything too - so he'd probably be just as bad...LOL...

    They don't allow strollers on Saturdays at this one (off LBJ). What was just as sad was that some of the old bitties who were shoppng there kept on glaring at me because they had to walk around my stroller (that was before Katie started spitting and throwing cookies at them).

    What the hell? That's pretty rude. I have never been in Sam Moon but it doesn't look like I'll be going anytime soon.

    Speaking of people being rude about kids:

    Last night we were waiting outside Olive Garden and Chris wanted down. So DH took his hand and they walked around and looked at the flowers, etc. Chris was talking but he was being good. And these college girls were sitting on a bench near me...one of them gestured to CHris and said 'my God, I HATE kids.' And the other one was like 'yeah, I'm sick of seeing kids everywhere' I was PISSED. Why would you say that in front of the kid's mom?
