Baby Jax got on the stove. :(
Jaxon crawled on top of the oven today, twice. :'(

The first time, I was in the bathroom right after we woke up for the morning, and when I was done, I went to check on him in the living room. He wasn't there, but the kitchen door was open, so I figured he was looking for the peanut butter (his favorite!). I turn the corner to the kitchen, and there he is, sitting on top of the stove. The oven was open, so I guess he used that as a stepping stool to get on top of the stove. ACK.

The second time happened just now. I was in my room changing my clothes. Jax was with me, but he got bored and ran out of the room. Usually he just goes into his room or the living room, so I wasn't too worried. But then I hear the oven slam open, and by the time I run into the kitchen, he's sitting on top of the stove again, proud as a peacock.

I am TERRIFIED now. Jax is rarely out of my eyesight, but he still managed twice today to get on the stove. I'm so scared that he'll climb up there while I'm in the bathroom or something, and turn on one of the stove burners. AGH!I feel like such a bad mommy! Are there child safety locks for ovens??? Help please!

holy cow. what a quick learner! how'd he figure that out! lol! we all leave them alone once in a while - they're at that age where they can entertain themselves for a period of time. good thing you heard the stove!

i'm sure a lock will do the trick. until he figures out how to drag the kitchen chairs over to the counter...

They also have knob covers you can put over the knobs that turn on the burners to keep him from being able to do that. I don't have a link but I have them on my stove.

Yikes! He is keeping you on your toes. Is there a way to lock him completely out of the kitchen when you're not in there? I did that with Corinne because she was a monkey. I had to keep the door gated. Good luck! He is a smart little guy.

That is insane, I'm so glad Ethan doesn't climb (yet)! When I first saw the thread title I was thinking he got burned. Glad he is safe, just being a toddler! You might try to wrap a towel around the oven handle until your locks come in to keep him from being able to get it open!

I have always had a fear of Aidan doing this. My cousin who is a little older than me climbed onto the stove when she was a child and turned the burner on while she had her leg on it. She has a horrible burn scar completely covering her foot and ankle that is with her for life. Scary!! Glad you figured out his trick before any damage was done!!

Elizabeth...... you poor thing. I know I can't believe the things that these toddlers get into. How they manage I don't know. Ayden faz is the refrigerator. He likes to just stand there.

Big hugs! Ayden is the same way. His favorite thing to do is hang off the handle on the stove and to stand on the lower handle on the drawer! I am starting to regret having this double range! LOL

He also is very good at climbing the step stool I keep in the kitchen. He just pushes it around to get whatever he needs.

Heh, Jax loves our dishwasher...he's always turning it on, so it's running a good part of the day. He also likes to open it and "put up" the silverware.

Life was easier before he could open doors, dang it! :P

I am just so so SO grateful he didn't try to turn on the burners! Usually he goes straight for knobs and buttons, so I feel really lucky!!
